Chase the Dream and Cherish the Time
——Sino-German Beer Brewing Process Control Laboratory
The Sino-German Beer Brewing Process Control Laboratory is built by the Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing following the Shenzhen Technology University's goal of building a Chinese application university benchmark and leader by integrating advanced school experience, knowledge transfer and industry production. The laboratory uses German beer brewing as the teaching background. The process includes saccharification, filtration, boiling, spin-sinking and fermentation, providing a lively application background for process control theory.
Mr. Siegfried Schrammel, an engineer from the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences, and Shen Wenjing, a teacher at the Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing, were the lecturers. Mr. Schrammel has 18 years of extensive teaching and engineering experience in the field of beer brewing, and the beer factory he established has a history of 25 years. At present, the laboratory has successfully opened two international courses onBeer Brewing Process Controlfor 40 students in 2017. The process control is incorporated into beer brewing experiments, which is fun to learn for students.
Junior students will learn about mechatronics production equipment and process control theories through the international courses, and learn to use engineering software LabVIEW to measure and control variables such as volume, temperature, pressure, and time during the brewing process to obtain the required beer brewing process and better understand the brewing process control;
Through the project work guidance, senior students will integrate the learned mechanical design, hydraulic and pneumatic, intelligent sensor detection technology, PLC control and other professional knowledge to carry out secondary design and improvement of the equipment.
In October 2018, two graduate students Johannes Hermann, Tobias Bohrer, and an undergraduate Oliver Grill from the University of the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences came to the laboratory to carry out a five-week graduation project. They combined LabVIEW and automation technology to control and automate the brewing equipment, which improves the automation and intelligence level of the entire equipment.
Guided by the strategic of Made in China 2025, we plan to preliminarily establish a model of a digital brewery factory based on the LabVIEW platform, combine intelligent sensor networks to simulate, evaluate, optimize and intelligently control the entire production process, and apply for approval by the Ministry of Education for collaboration on the education project of Digital Factory for Beer Process Control.
